Ex-PBB housemate Hermes Bautista says he's not a flirt!

During his stint on Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, Hermes Bautista earned a reputation for being a flirt after he became close to most of the female housemates. But in an interview with ABS-CBN.com following his eviction, Hermes clarified that it was never his intention to flirt with anyone inside Kuya’s house. “Hindi ko naman talaga intensyon ‘yun. Siguro ganun lang talaga ako. Wala naman akong pinipili. Nagkataon lang na napalapit ako sa kanila. Siguro ‘yung nakita nila sa akin na pagiging malapit ko sa mga girls tingin nila flirt. Bahala na sila kung ‘yun ang tingin nila. Sorry kung may mga na-offend pero ang totoo wala akong masamang intensyon.”



With his looks and physique, Hermes instantly became the “man candy” of the house. Housemates Carol Batay and Riza Patria both confessed they had a crush on him, so much so that both were reduced to tears at some point. Hermes clarified that he never intended to hurt either of the girls. “Hindi ko in-expect na aabot sa ganun si Carol. Mahirap din naman para sa akin na nakikita kong may nasasaktan dahil sa akin pero hindi ko naman ginusto. Nakausap ko siya many times at parang before siya ma-evict naayos naman. Si Patria naman nasabi niya dati na crush niya ako pero akala ko wala lang. Ngayon ko lang nalaman na umiyak siya dahil sa akin nung lumabas siya.”

Hermes also became close to Finnish exchange housemate Katlin Laas, which even led to a kiss. “At that time lang siguro nagkaroon ako ng special feelings sa kanya. Ngayon naiisip ko pa rin siya pero mas gusto ko na si Cathy (Remperas).”

The 23-year-old parkour enthusiast and Cathy became a popular love team inside the PBB house. Now that they are both in the outside world, ABS-CBN.com asked Hermes if he will continue to pursue Cathy. “Napag-usapan na namin na dito sa labas titingnan namin kung saan pupunta ‘yung samahan namin. Magandang friendship na ‘yung nasimulan namin sa loob. Ngayon susubukan namin mas makilala pa ‘yung isa’t isa. Sana makalabas din kami. Na-invite ko siya sa amin sa Pampanga para makilala niya ‘yung family ko. Pero ngayon busy pa yata kasi siya.” Hermes, who spent years living in the US, said he fell in love with the Filipina qualities of Cathy. “Masaya siya kasama. Enjoy ako kapag siya ang kausap ko. Hindi ako nabo-bore. Sweet siya sa lahat. Likeable person si Cathy.”

But Hermes has a rival in the person of hunky housemate Johan Santos who has also expressed an interest in Cathy. The two men even treated Cathy to a special dinner date inside the house. But according to Cathy, she had more fun on her date with Hermes. While the pursuit for Cathy’s attention has put a strain on Johan and Hermes’s friendship, the latter clarified that there wasn’t any real animosity between them. “Okay naman kami ni Johan. Hindi kami masyadong nakakapag-usap ‘di tulad kina Tibo (Jumalon) at Paul Jake (Castillo). Mas lalo pang nagkailangan nung inamin namin pareho na gusto namin si Cathy.”

Hermes added that based on his observation, Johan is the least deserving of staying in the PBB Double Up house. “Hindi naging malalim ‘yung mga conversations namin. Napansin ko hindi siya masyadong nago-open up ng mga bagay tungkol sa sarili niya. Based lang sa reason na ‘yun sa tingin ko siya ang least deserving na mag-stay pa sa bahay ni Kuya.”
