Ex-PBB housemate Rica Paras speaks up on her brush with homophobia!

Rica Paras made history by being the first transgender housemate when she joined Pinoy Big Brother Double Up. In an interview with ABS-CBN.com following her eviction, Rica confessed that there were instances when she could feel that her guy housemates were a bit of homophobic. “Pagpasok ko pa lang ramdam ko na ‘yung pagkailang ng mga boys. They couldn’t approach me. Ako na ‘yung huli nilang sinubukang kausapin. Parang last choice na nila ako palagi.”



Her first task inside the house was to pretend to be the longtime girlfriend of Fil-Austrian Rob Stumvoll. At first, Rob was okay with Rica being a transgender, but when the task was over, Rica said that she was hurt that Rob distanced himself from her. “Hindi ko pa kasi nakausap si Rob ngayon. Sabi niya noon wala namang problem pero naramdaman ko talaga na he intentionally avoided me after our task. Feeling ko talaga it was because of my nature. He didn’t talk to me pagkatapos ng task! Lahat kinausap na niya, bato, pader, at swimming pool! Pero ako ayaw niyang kausapin?! Nakakaloka!”

In a separate interview with ABS-CBN.com, Rob reasoned that he began feeling awkward when Rica confessed to him that she was beginning to have special feelings for him because of their weekly task. To this Rica reacted, “Na-carried away lang siguro ako. He was so sweet kasi, kahit alam kong task lang ‘yung ginagawa namin. Sabay kaming pumasok and may task pa kami so siya ‘yung una kong nakakwentuhan at naka-close. Malambing siya so parang nadala ako. I admitted na nade-develop ako sa kanya. Maybe that scared him away. Pero sana he had the balls to tell me na he got scared. Tsaka kung scared siya, ano ba ‘yun, for all the weeks hanggang lumabas siya ayaw niya akong kausapin?! Ang alam ko ang scare dapat days lang tapos wala na, chika ka na.Siya over sa tagal, ano ba?!”

Inside the house, Rica was very confident about expressing her feelings and opinions. Of all the guy housemates, she said she find Johan Santos “very hot.” “Nakakaloka naman kasi Johan! Parang baby face na nilagay sa katawang pang-kama! Ha ha ha! Crush ko talaga siya!” she said with a big laugh.

The 27-year-old IT consultant became a nominee for eviction several times. She said that she understands if the other housemates see her as a threat because of her competitive attitude. “Ganun naman dapat sa buhay, kung saan ka magaling, saang area ka malakas, gamitin mo. Kaya tuloy ‘yung mga housemates they saw me as a threat, a strong contender sa competition. I’m skillful, creative, witty. I’m sorry pero ‘yun talaga ako. Naninindigan ako na in everything you do you should give your best. I won’t feel sorry for doing that. Care ko na lang sa mga inggitera! It’s not my problem anymore… It’s their problem anymore, ha ha ha!”
