Ex-housemate Tom Mott speaks up on the growing rivalry in ‘Pinoy Big Brother Double Up’!
The two houses in Pinoy Big Brother Double Up are now taking the weekly task competitions on a personal level, with their respective housemates getting on each other’s nerves whenever they meet up in the activity area for a match. ABS-CBN.com asked evicted housemate Tom Mott for his opinion on why the two houses have taken each of Kuya’s challenges too seriously. “The two houses are competing for a real thing which is ‘yung pagkain. Makikita mo wala kayong stock ng food, mararamdaman mo everyday ‘yung gutom. Madali lang ‘yung mga small games na sa aming bahay lang. It’s a light competition and mababaw lang ‘yung at stake so enjoy lang kami sa paglalaro. Kahit matalo ka okay lang for as long as naging masaya kayo. But if the weekly budget is at stake you are pressured to win in the task. Mahirap makita ‘yung mga kasama mo who are like your family na naghihirap at nagugutom. Ikaw nahihirapan ka rin kaya sa mga weekly tasks you can’t help but to take things personally.”
Tom was force-evicted from House B due to his violent outburst when his team lost the Pinoy Big Battle weekly task to House A. The defeat took a heavy toll on the spirit of House B. “In our house mahirap kasi may ilan, lalo na ‘yung mga girls, may negative mentality sila minsan na nakakahawa. Kaming mga guys, Hermes (Bautista) and Daddy Patrick (Villanueva), we’re always cool kahit matalo kami. Pero ‘yung mga babae madalas nilang sabihin natalo kami kasi unfair o dahil pinagkaisahan kami. Nakakahawa minsan ‘yung ganung mentality kasi lagi mong naririnig.”
The 22-year-old hunky Waray also shared what he thinks is House A’s advantage in the weekly tasks. “Nakikita ko silang mag-perform sa mga weekly tasks and magaling talaga sila. Their group weighs everything nicely. They are really into the objective of the competition which is to win. Sa house kasi namin puro emotion ang pinapairal. Lagi silang may nasasabing masama. Hindi nila nakikita na ang weekly task pagalingan lang talaga.”
Despite losing his temper because of the competition, Tom said that he always treated the people in the other house as his friends. He was originally from House A, until after three weeks he was traded to House B for Melisa Cantiveros. “Hindi ko masyado nakilala sina Rica (Paras), Tibo (Jumalon), Melissa, and Johan (Santos) but I want to get to know them more if I was only given the chance. Ang mga talagang naka-close ko are Paul Jake (Castillo), Jason (Francisco), and Delio (Dimaculangan). I have a special bond with them. Buti na lang naintindihan nila na nagalit ako hindi sa kanila but because I was only frustrated. For me, ang hirap makipag-compete. There was a time na naisip kong mag-quit na lang because ‘yung kabilang bahay they’re also close to me. I don’t want to look at the face of a friend and have to compete with them.”
Tom also reacted about the incident wherein his group mate Rob Stumvoll yelled at the people from House A. Rob apparently snapped when he heard the other group laughing after they won the giant volleyball game. “For me I think nagsasaya lang ‘yung kabilang bahay and they have the right to do that kasi nanalo sila. Kapag nanalo kami magsasaya rin kami. I think Rob has no right to do that to them kasi hindi naman siya ‘yung pinagtatawanan. Unfair naman kung kami ang nagsasaya tapos may sasabihin silang ganun.”
However, Tom believes that there is still a room for love between the two houses. He said that he hopes in the end, when the heat of the competition is gone, everyone can manage to be friends. “Hopefully maging okay din sa huli ‘yung dalawang bahay because they’re all nice people. Gusto ko rin ‘yung mga nasa kabilang bahay. Sana kapag nagkikita sila maging friendly sila sa isa’t isa more than being rivals because of the competition.”
