Ex-PBB housemate Mariel Soriño is not keen on reuniting with the father of her son!

Before becoming the final evictee of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, Mariel Soriño was given a chance by Big Brother to work things out with the father of her child. Her ex-boyfriend, Paul Jeffrey Kabigting, entered the PBB house to prove to her that he loves her and he wants them and their son, Paul Asher, to be a family. However, Mariel was still hurting over a betrayal in the past, that is when she was pregnant, Paul Jeffrey told her that he was married. In an interview with ABS-CBN.com, Mariel opened up about how she felt when the awful truth was made known to her. “Lahat na yata ng negative feelings naramdaman ko nung sinabi niya sa akin na may asawa pala siya. I was angry, disappointed, hindi ko maintindihan, gusto ko yatang mag-collapse. Eventually my family found out that I was pregnant. Nag-aaral pa ako nun. I was thankful kasi hindi sila nagalit sa akin. Tinanggap pa rin nila ako and ‘yung anak ko.”



But Mariel said that she maintains a civil relationship with Paul Jeffrey and that they are very much together as parents to Asher. However, the 21-year-old Davaoeña said she is not thinking about going into a serious commitment again with Paul Jeffrey. “Wala kaming away o kahit anong conflict. But we’re not going to be together, as a couple. Parang ayaw ko na kasi based sa pinagdaanan ko sa kanya. Kahit sinong babae matatakot na kapag naranasan mo na kerida ka pala. Ever since nung sinabi niyang ang relationship namin ng guy may times na okay kami, pero maraming times na magkaaway kami. Ngayon gusto ko ‘chill’ muna.”

Mariel further revealed that shortly after she gave birth to Asher, she had an unusual encounter with Paul Jeffrey’s then wife. She explained that by the time she and Paul Jeffrey had a relationship, he and his wife had already decided not to live together. Only when Asher was born did Paul Jeffrey went on to file an annulment. “I called the wife. Sabi ko kung may gusto siyang sabihin sa akin about everything she can tell me directly. Mahirap kasi ang naririnig ko lang na side is ‘yung sa guy. I asked the wife if she really wanted the annulment o gusto niyang i-try pa to save the marriage. Kung gusto nilang i-try pa e ‘di ‘Go!’ Mas gusto ko pa ‘yun. Pero sabi nung wife gusto na rin niya ‘yung annulment. Okay naman sa akin ‘yung wife. I also told the guy na mas kailangan siya sa pamilya niya pero ayaw na rin niya. He wants to be with me daw. Pero sa ngayon parang ayaw ko muna.”

For now, Mariel said she is just thankful that she “found herself” during her 18-week stay inside Kuya’s house. “Before ako nag-audition sa PBB parang walang direction ang buhay ko. When I entered the house, I used the chance to have a sort of escape sa buhay. Ngayon masasabi kong nahanap ko ‘yung sarili ko. Ang daming experiences na nagpatibay sa akin. May mga bago akong friends. Super nag-enjoy ako sa lahat ng tasks. Sulit ‘yung experience kaya hindi masyado masama ‘yung loob ko na hindi ako napasama sa Big Five.”
